MPEG to VCD?

Is there any programs to turn MPEG or AVI or any others into into something viewable on a dvd player that plays vcd's/cd-r's/cd-rw's/mp3's?

MPEGs are in the format to create VCDs. To author a VCD, check out the helpful guides at www.vcdhelp.com . For AVI, you'll need to convert to MPEG. I use a program call TMPGEnc:

You can get the program at this site www.spam4mysite.com

I use nero to make vcds
it can convert some file types to the correct mpeg type, but I've had better luck using tmpgenc first then burning the mpeg files with nero

tmpgenc is what I use it does a great job every time. You have to pay if you want to do Mpeg 2 though.

vcdgear is the best out there IMO!

You can always use an older version of TMPEGnc if you want to do MPEG2 without having to pay. I think there are copies of this version (12b I think) available for download just for this reason.

Having said all of this I personally only do MPEG1.

I don't really know the difference between MPEG1 and 2. Why do you mainly do 1? My tv tuner has the default set at 2, so I just leave it at that. Is there an advantage to either one?
