Canon A40 owners. I have a problem

Haven't used my camera in awhile but when I plugged it up today to transfer some pics over it won't let me. Says it's not connected properly, battery low, source file is missing or read only, target file is missing or read only, target folder is missing or read only. ??

I put new batteries in...same thing. Moved USB ports and same thing. Don't have a card reader. What is this and how do I fix it?

thanks

May be your "new" batteries are not new? Have you try to reseat the compact flash card?

New batteries were just charged. Powerex 1600s.

I'll try the card

Well after fighting with the Twain driver and FINALLY uninstalling then reinstalling it. It sort of worked. the Canon ZoomBrowser isn't found as a registered app like it did before but I can transfer files. Guess it's time just to suck it up and buy a card reader. I don't like the zoombrowser app anyway.

I have the same model camera and bought a cheap CF reader. I will never go back to using the camera to transfer images, its slower and eats up batteries. And with the card reader I finally got rid of Canon's bloatware image utilities.
