Internet Explorer Website Acessing Problems

There is some website which freezes my Dell Inspiron 8100.I am running Win Xp Pro with SP1 with 1Ghz P3 and 256mb ram.Have more than 15 GB of free HDD space and on the background its only running Norton Antivirus.
Even the Ctrl+Alt+Delete key does not respond and it takes more than 10 minutes to even the window to pop up.The mouse also startes to freeze. The only way to get out is to shutdown the power switch.
What makes this websites very hard for Internet Explorer to handle?
Do I need something else to download and make my machine more worable to some of the website. The website I am talking about is not some Pron but a travel agency. They had flash I think but I cannot go that far.
