You're getting a new hd just b/c its making noise?!!

Check out X's deal about the 120GB Hd.

Maxtor is my favorite but the latest WDs have been pretty good.

loud scratch is usually an indication of bad times ahead with a HD
they're fairly cheap now, get a new one and copy you data then use the current drive for none important stuff. like temp files, temp directory for your burner program etc until it dies completely

Personally, I prefer IBM drives. For the most part I think their quality is top notch, but they did have a lot of problems with the 60GXP series. Get something in the 75XP series and you shouldn't have any problems. Also I'd research this on www.tomshardware.com Hope you find what you're looking for.

Get anything except Western Digital, their drives truly suck.
