Windows Media Player 9

So I upgraded to version 9 Beta, which so far works really well, except for the slider at the bottom. On most of the videos I play, if I try to move the slider, the video file just starts over again. I can somtimes start the video, and just before it starts I can click a position on the bar and it will work, but usually it just starts over.

I'm sure this is a bug because on videos where I can move it around, if I do it enough the video will begin to start over when I move it. These files used to work on WMP7

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I tried. It won't let me (I hate microshaft) the only way it can be uninstalled is to restore my system (which I don't have enabled)

Can you unistall WMP9 first, thru the add/remove in the control panel, and then download WMP7.1 from Microsoft's website. Just go to windows update link and search for it.

no, like I said it won't let me. WMP9, once installed, becomes (I'm guessing) hard coded into the system. And the only way to uninstall it is either restore, or total reinstallation of Windows.

I doubt this will work, but can you download and install WMP7 over it? I guess you should go ahead and reinstall if you can and want to... The OS I mean.

I already tried that to. After you install 7 over 9 and try to open it, it gives you an error and is forced to close.

It is never a good idea to try a BETA version of anything, esp. w/o a system restore. Guess you learned the hard way.

What kind of error is it giving you? Illegal operation? If you don't really want to format, then find some alternatives to play your clips, RealOne Player is one choice, but not much better.
