Alienware or Other?

I have built my last several PC's and am looking to just buy one this time out...

Alienware is at the top of my list, but I would consider others if their price was better for comparable hardware.

I have looked at iBuyPower.Com, but they do not have all the latest stuff (p4 2.8 and ATI 9700)...

I checked VelocityMicro.com and they are more $$$ than Alienware...

Is there anyone else I should be considering?

Thanks...

Check PC Gamer (magazine or website) as they always review and compare gaming rigs.

I've heard Alienware is pricey for the hardware but I haven't really looked at their prices in detail

Since you've already built your own, why don't you get the specs on what their top of the line unit has, get the best prices online and build one yourself? Would probably save some bucks that way.

If you're looking for top-of-the-line, Falcon Northwest is consistently ranked higher than Alienware in specs, quality & prices.

I am looking for a somewhat top-of-the-line system... I can spend $3000 to $3500.

The Alienware I want is ~ $3200
P4 2.8
1gb RAM
DVD-R
ATI 9700 Pro
etc...

Falcon wants ~ $3600
ABS does not offer ATI
iBuyPower does not have the 2.8 P4

Plus, with an alienware I can get 18 months free financing at Best Buy when they have their sales... (Hopefully they will offer that this weekend.)

For me to build this system myself, it would cost me ~$2500.

I figure a little more for Alienware with a 3 year on-site warranty and free financing isn't too bad.

But, if I can get an iBuyPower or some other that is comparable for $2500, then I am willing to forgo the free financing.

Wow. You're talking about spending several grands on just a computer.
Even with the so called zero financing, it is just still too much.
With that much $$$ you could get yourself a big screen TV and and XBOX, but you probably already have that.

ABS seems like a good price for their computer, you cold get like the GF4 with 128mb ram and still spend less than $2k.

But if youre' going to get Alenware get the water cooled one.

Not trying to knock on you but I'm trying to understand why would you want to spend 3 grands on a PC when it will depreciate quickly?

....I'm not buying the computer now. I'm picking out the up end box and then by summer it will be around the mid range which would be much cheaper to buy.

Anyway...Is iBuypower any good? Is Cyberpower PC any good?
