I need a less expensive, reliable web site host... help!

I've been with ValueWeb for about 3 years and have been paying $19.95/mo. for hosting my real estate company web site. I know that there are less expensive options out there and need some recommendations. I want Microsoft Frontpage 2000-2002 support, multiple auto responders & multiple mailbox forwards (at least 4).

My site is currently about 20megs total, although I am considering an upgrade that will increase it's size to about 30-60 megs.

I'm done with ValueWeb as they have double billed my credit card SO many times and it takes an act of congress to get it straight with them.

Any advice/links are appreciated!

What sort of features are you looking for? Going to be doing any PHP or ASP programming or just regular HTML? How much are you willing to spend monthly?

Probably just regular HTML.

As for the amount I want to spend, well, less than I'm paying now!

I've seen some hosting companies in the ad section of PC Magazine @ $9.95/mo. That's a great savings over what I've been paying ValueWeb.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I use esosoft.com. I get 200MB for $8.95/month. I believe RandyC (another mod here) also uses them as well for one of his sites.

I use www.phpwebhosting.com. $9.95/mo. You get your own SQL database, supports Frontpage, PHP, unlimited mailboxes, unlimited bandwidth. You get 150mb of space initially, but if you need more, they'll give you as much as you need for free as long as you aren't running a porno site. I've been very happy with them for the last 5 months, but I may switch to Dixiesys, since I never use any of those highend options and my site has pretty low traffic.

I too use PHPWebHosting.com and they're great - I do run a high traffic site (message boards) and they are amazing there. Very cheap for all the great options they have.

They are a linux server and do not support Microsoft Frontpage! Thanks for the link anyway!

The host I use, http://www.dixiesys.com uses Linux servers and most definitely has Microsoft Frontpage extensions support.

Check this page, http://www.phpwebhosting.com./faq.html

Q. Do you support FrontPage?

A. Yes! After you sign-up, enter a request for the frontpage extensions to be added to your account.

As stated above, Linux does not equal No Frontpage support. The extensions work on almost any type of server.

Ok, here's the link I wanted to post earlier but forgot the url. (d'oh)

Host Packet.Net

Check them out. Great prices, and I've heard that they're reliable too. Their lowest package costs $6.95 and gives you:

Disk Space - 300MB
Bandwidth Allowance - 10GB
Sub-Domains - Unlimited
Domain Transfer - Free
FrontPage 2002 Extensions
Email Aliases & Forwarding - Unlimited
....

and a boat load of other features. I'll be switching over to them soon.
