A winMX question

WinMX will only allow me to make a secondary connection.

When I try to make a primary connection is says:

No TCP port for incoming connections
No UDP port for incoming and outgoing packets

Can someone explain this to me or do you need more information?

It means that you have to go into the settings and specify which ports you want WinMX to use for TCP and UDP. So in order to get a primary connection you have to have those two settings specified. I'm not sure what they're supposed to be (it's on ymy computer at home). I'll check when I get home and see how I've got it set up if no one else gets you an answer.

Even if you have them set in WinMX, you have to open the TCP & UDP ports on your router, which I'll assume you're using. I was able to get it working on my old router, but not my new one. Secondary connection works ok, but primary is a bit better.

I took a look at my home settings, and I've also got a secondary connection running. I haven't had any problems using the secondary connection and I really don't know if having a primary would be that much better. It's probably not worth the trouble punching a hole in your firewall to get a primary connection. You'll be fine with a secondary I think.
