Tweaking monitor colors...

I have a TV-out card, and the TV image that I get is much more colorful and vibrant than the monitor image. For example, when I play FPS games like jedi knight 2, it looks really dark on my monitor, but the colors are great on the tv display.

I've played with brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation a lot but no luck. Is there any tool out there to help me tweak my monitor's colors?

This is the cheapest, best way to calibrate a monitor. Period. Without getting any tools to do it, all you're doing is making an educated guess.

If you want to take the "guess" approach, set the monitor color temperature to 6500K. Use a black-to-white gradient (like this) to set your black and white points (use contrast and brightness). You should be able to tell every gray patch apart.
