Digital Camera - What to BUY & Question about extra lens & filters????

I was interested in purchasing a digital camera.....i wanted to get a good one so it does not get outdated SO quickly. I guess i have been looking at the 5mega-pixel cameras. The three that i have been comparing are the Sony DSC-F707, Nikon CoolPix 5000, and the Minolta DiMage 7i (i guess this is an updated version of the 7). Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions, testimonials, or any info at all about these???? Also, prices, etc??? I've seen package deals on the 'Net which includes all the extras (lens, tripods, memory, readers, etc)

Any input would be appreciated.....

Thanx

I say go for the f707. I did and don't regret it. Here's a link to some pictures I've taken with my F707 so far, wth a few macros in there. The site isn't anything fancy-- I had Photoshop generate it automaticly from a directory full of cropped or downsized images. Then I signed up for a free Angelfire web site and uploaded it.

I don't know the model number but canon makes a camera that fits in the palm of your hand with room to spare, and the pictures are truly amazing.

If I remember right the body is steel not plastic, it comes with the usual cable and software.

I was wondering if anyone used the WIDE angle lens or 2x Telephoto lens for the cameras. I'm pretty much set on the Sony DSC-F707, and i've noticed that there are a lot of accessories for it. Such as the two lens i mentioned and a bunch of different filters. I was wondering are they worth it? Does anyone have any samples with these different lens or filters???

Thanx

I have the Coolpix 995, and love it. Just got it a few weeks ago.
Given it is only a 3.3 megapixel camera, but the lens on it is tack sharp.

If you're not planning on cropping, and enlarging your prints to a great extent, you may not even notice the difference between 3, 4, and 5 megapixel cameras.

Here are a couple of great sites to look up reviews on each camera. After reading the reviews, you may even notice that the 995s lens actually gives off sharper pictures than more expensive, higher megaapixel cameras.

Nikon also has a new cameraa coming out (5700?) I think. 4 mpxl camera... worth a look at 699 if that's not out of your price range.
