XP File permissions help!

I'm running XP Pro and I want to make a folder only accessable to the "Administrator" account and not available to regular users, including my own account.

I want to put this on the root of my D:\ partition, but I just can't figure it out. The help feature is not very helpful since it only shows you how to do it under the admins profile.

I'm not attached to a domain either, just a workgroup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

First off, your hard drive needs to be formatted with NTFS. If it is, simply right-click on the desired folder and choose "sharing and security". You can add who you want and what permissions here.

Edit: OK, looks like this doesn't work. Guess XP is a little different...

First, click on tools --> folder options --> view --> uncheck use simple file sharing.

Now, you can right click on the folder and click on the sharing option.

No you are right....with the drive formatted in NTFS you can edit the permissions of user through these means.

That's the part I was missing. I was wondering why I didn't have the security tab at all...

I was so used to the NT and W2K way of setting up shares, I got confused like you did with XP. Then I realize this stupid simple file sharing option.
