DVD+R or -R?

I've been looking into buying a dvd burner and for once, not making an impulse buy. The two I'm looking at are the Pioneer A04 and the HP DVD200xi. The Pioneer is -R and the HP is +R(A true +R, not +RW). VCDhelp.com is a great source of info but I see mixed comments on -R and +R dvd's working on my stand alone dvd player, a Philips DVD711. Some people say each kind of dvd works great some have had no success with either. Any comments on either drive and/or format? If anyone would be willing to burn me a -R or a +R disc, that would be great. I would reimburse you.

i havent looked into them much, because Im not ready to buy one yet

but a couple things I have heard.. HP may be offering to allow a trade in of your dvd burner, when the standard is set, if the HP burner is not the standard

also.. with the HP and Compaq merger, many more systems will be shipped out with HP dvd burners in them.. and this could definitly lead a push towards the HP burners becoming standard..

although, I guess microsoft will probably be the key to setting the standard

So far the Pioneer A04 I picked up for $345 has been great. The discs have worked in my PS2 (Movies and games) and SONY DVP-CX850d. I can sent you a DVD-R of a movie I've burned just send me an e-mail with your address to [email protected].

Has a standard been set? Is the Pioneer DVD burner one of the standard that could win. Which DVD burner should i buy and when do we exect a standard to be announced?

DVDKrayzie,
Could I get a copy to? I really hate to buy a DVD burner and not have the burned movies not work in my DVD player. I have the Sony 530D which is listed in the above post. What software did you burn your DVD with? I just got ULEAD DVD burning software and i am hoping I can use it. You can make some really cool menu's and such. Does your movie have menu's?

How much is a DVD-R? Can I buy just one? I have no problem with sending you either a DVD-R or the money for the DVD.

DVDKrayzie, I am fairly certain you are talking about copyrighted movies here, not ones that you produced yourself. The copying and sharing you are more than hinting at is illegal and the reason I had to close this thread. This is a warning for you to not participate in any discussion this way again.
