I have an Intel PC Camera and it works very well, even in low-light areas. I've seen it go for around $80-$100. Theres an inexpensive model below this one (it's not on the Intel page for whatever reason) that is essentially the same camera, sans the built-in mic and slightly different software (I think) that I've seen at various BB's and CC's for around $40-$50.

Quick Cams are ok - I used to have one a long time ago, but it would constantly give me install/driver problems, especially with my scanner and the TWAIN32.dll driver. The original company has long since been bought out, so I don't know how good the cams are now, but those are generally in the $30-$40 range - most Staples have many of these.

I like the Intel because it's USB, very easy set-up and if you are running XP, you can just plus it in and take a pic (but XP doesn't really provide you with software - you can still take a pic and save it).

I never bothered to upgrade the Intel software to XP-Compatible software because I never really used it - I mainly used Netmeeting or Cuseeme (and now IspQ), but I would assume the new cams come with XP software.

If you're on a dialup the video will be choppy - if you're on boradband it will be substantially better. (bear that in mind, don't let the box fool you when it says "crystal clear smooth performance" LOL).
