Help with XP Pro and IE 6.0

Here is the problem I am having. When I click on a link to open a new window, all I get is a blank white screen. I reset all the IE defaults but still no luck.

I figure I need to re-install IE 6.0. I d/l'd the ie6setup.exe from Microsoft but it tells me I have the latest version already. I tried running "sfc /scannow" from the XP CD, but it tells me my CD is invalid.

Is there a way to delete and/or re-install IE6.0 w/o re-installing XP?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had the same problem on my work computer for a couple months before I got sick of it and reimaged my PC. I tried all sorts of stuff to fix the problem, but nothing worked. Do you get the same thing happening in Netscape? When I had the problem Netscape showed the same symptoms.
I did get IE to reinstall by redownloading it from the Microsoft site, but it did not fix the problem.
