Best way to make a fan hole in your case?

This will be my first time adding a fan hole to a case without one, and am needing suggestions on how to do it. I think I am right in assuming a fan just in the case won't really do as much as a fan blowing in outside (cooler) air. Thanks.

i used a hole saw and my corded drill to do it.

bought a grill cover and some screws locally to cover it up.

put it on the side of the case in front of 2 80mm fans drawing air in.

cranky.

I used my dremel to cut a hole at the top, and put a fan in there. Worked pretty good, and lowered case temps by a lot.
