Help needed: converting cassettes to CD

I have some live recordings that are fairly old but still in good condition that I would like to transfer to CD. Most of the material is original and cannot be bought or found anywhere else.

Any ideas on how I can convert to CD?

I figured that if I was able to hook up my tape component deck to the sound card inputs on a computer, I can somehow get the recordings in a WAV format. Then use an app to convert and burn them on CD.

Any experience out there.

Earlier threads of some possible use....

How do I record from a tape player to my pc?

With regard to recording from the soundcard, see my final post on this thread for some potentially useful links.

There are several relatively recent threads here (and one or two on Music Talk if I recall correctly) on CD burning that you may find of use. The search button (top right) is a great tool in the right hands
