DIY Spell-check

See Geoff's announcement at top of page.

I downloaded this as soon as it was announced. It worked once, then began closing the Explorer window each time it was invoked. I filed a bug report and have exchanged some e-mail with the author. He had several reports and found a bug that caused this on some web-pages, including DVD talk.

He released a fix on May 5. I've downloaded fixed version. While I've only used it on a few notes, it seems to work correctly now. If you are fussy about spelling, but are a poor typist and/or proofreader (me, exactly), it is a pretty sweet program.

It installs an "ABC" button on explorer tool-bar. Click and it checks spelling of text you have entered in a text box on that web-page. Interface is a lot like Word. It is a little fussy on hyphenating words like "web-page" which a lot of people don't hyphenate any more. I give it

Geoff: Thanks for announcing it.

mine has been acting wacky too. i'm a little nervous to use it now, after i've typed a response. sometimes it'll shut down explorer and i'll lose what i wrote in addition to having to surf back to wherever i was. now i copy text to the clipboard before spell checking.

Download the update. It is a patch, only takes a couple of seconds, and fixes that. After the patch, mine seems stable, but I've only used it five times - that's four times more stable than it was, minimum.
