Hotmail server question.

Is there a way to get hotmail through a pop server? I can't use the webmail servers with my PDA.

I don't think so. But Outlook Express and Outlook 2002 (XP) have the hooks for it. Don't know if your PDA has anything like that.

They have an account configuration area where you can input your email name and password so you can use them as the interface to Hotmail.

Ah, yes. I already use that. But again, that connects through a webserver, not pop server. What I need is a way to connect to Hotmail through a pop server which will let me sync my email with my pda. The webserver mail doesn't sync with the PDA; I think outlook views webserver mail as a sort of 2ndary account and only the pop account is the primary one.

As I tried to say in my first post, I don't think there's a POP method of connecting to Hotmail. You could maybe do some forwarding of your Hotmail email through Outlook to a service with POP ability though.

I've heard of people being able to access Hotmail accounts through some special settings in AvantGo, but that was before Hotmail did their interface changeover.

Would that work though? I already have 2 pop accounts forwarded INTO hotmail. And with what mtucker is saying, it probably won't work anyway. Maybe I'll call up MSN tech support.

I thought some mail clients had the ability to automatically forward mail they receive. Since Outlook can receive Hotmail I thought it could automatically forward the messages to a mail server you can handle on your PDA. But I don't see where to do that in Outlook. Can't your PDA browse your Hotmail email?

And here is some software that you have to pay for after 30 days. Sorry, but I've no real idea if it would fit with your requirements.

It can browse Hotmail email just fine. The problem is that my Hotmail email does not show up in the 'Local folders' part of Outlook, but instead it is a whole other folder titled Hotmail. And my PDA only syncs with the email messages inside the Local folders inbox.

It worked! I hooked Hotmail up through Pop3hot and it took about 2 min to download all my messages onto the PDA. Thanks X & Benedict.
