what is that command to display and edit startup programs?

I am here at a friends that has like 15 things that start running at startup. What I want to do is kill all of them except the essentials. But I can't remember the command word to enter at the start->run to bringup the startup items to check or uncheck. Can someone help me out? Win98SE OS. And besides explorer and systray what is necessary to keep running?

BINGO! thats it! Thanks Dave!

There are 21 things at startup! [sarcastic voice] Gee, you think that is robbing any system resources? [sarcastic voice]

Can anyone offer any advice on which ones I should keep running?

Hard to say, it really depends on what software he has. I would get rid of any quicken reminders &quick entry, MS office startup and find fast, real player, winamp agent, adobe acrobat etc. Those are the ones I run into quite a bit. Be sure to leave any firewall or anti-virus stuff.

I would download adaware also. You would be surprised how many bandwidth and processor robbing advertisement programs are trojan horsed into just about anything you download these days. I couldn't believe my kids had about 50 instances of bonzi buddy running on their pc. It executes and deletes all types of known trojans.
