Help with CD Drives

I have two cd/dvd drives:
Hitachi GD-2000 (Dvd-rom)
HP CD-Writer 9500 (Cd-rw)

I am running Windows XP. Recently, I installed Nero v 5.5.4. After rebooting my computer, my cd drives disappeared from the "my computer." (they previously worked under Nero until I had to reinstall Nero) They were also gone from most programs. In the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation point next to them. In the properties for both of them, the following error message appears:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes for this? The drives are still recognized by Nero Infotool and by CDR identifier, but that is it. I have tried removing them, but when i reinstall them the same problem occurs.

Thanks in advance

upgrade to 5.5.8, see if that fixes it.
