Partition of an Existing HDD

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with 20GB of HDD.I am using it already with allmost 5GB of OS Win Xp Pro and other applications.
Would it be wise to devide the HDD using Partition Magic 7.0 to seperate the data and applications?
Would I be able to seperate just the My Documents?
And what File system should I devide it with Fat ot NTFS?

It would be wise. I would separate your HD into at least 2 partitions. OS/Programs and Data.

That way if you can separately use programs like Drive Image to image your OS/Programs partition so when it crashes/virus infestation/screwed registry etc you can just reimage and it's back to new again.

You would be better off reinstalling a fresh OS first and then work from there. Save your info first in whatever way you choose.

Your choice of filesystem depends on your preferences.
