XP uses RAM more efficiency than W2K. You can open the Task Manager and look under the Performance tab to see how much of physical RAM is available and total commited. I noticed by running Photoshop or Panorama Factory, 1GB of RAM is not enough

You're playing Counter-Strike, that's your problem. Your computer is punishing you for being a lemming and going with the flow of the rest of the gamers in the world.

No seriously, XP doesn't use up resources and then not release them once the program is closed. Check the task manager when you're back at your desktop and see what's sucking it all up.

Nah, I doubt if CS is your problem, unless you leave it running in a minimized window when you're doing stuff on your desktop.

Oh, and if you need your violence fix, I suggest SoF2 MP Test. That way you can blow some body parts off when playing.

Well, I've noticed that XP is more of a memory hog than some of the other OS' I've run... then again, maybe I'm just trying to run too much crap at once.

I moved from 512MB of PC133 to 256MB of DDR while switching motherboards, and I've definitely noticed a lot more delays when I have a collection of stuff running - showing that 256MB just isn't cutting it.
