power surge killed my floppy drive?

The power went out and came back on, and one of my computers just made a buzzing noise when I tried to boot it. I was like crap, there goes the freaking harddrive. I opened the case, and found it was the floppy drive making the noise....I unplugged the cables from the floppy and everything worked fine.

I've never seen a floppy get fried from a power surge before when everything else was Ok, anybody else seen this?

It was an old computer anyway, I have 3 that I run.....but that's my Linux box so I'd be pissed if it died.
