Photoshop help!

How do you combine images or parts of images. I can't find the tool that lets you cut a piece of an image and then pull it onto another image. Thanks for any help, I have version 5.0

1. You need two images side by side in photoshop. ex. Human and Background
2. Take the lasso tool or one of the marque tools (box/circle) and select a portion of one of the images (ex. human cutout).
3. You should see a 'marching ants' selection. Hit Ctrl C, then select the image you want the selection to be layered over ie. background image.
4. Hit Ctrl V when the image you want as the background is selected/active.
5. You just created a new layer with the selected pixels over the background. Hit F7 for the layer window.
6. In the Layer window select the human cut layer you pasted and use the move tool (v key) to move the cutout around.

Get familiar with Layers...

There are various ways to "cut" or select an image. Using the lasso tool is a good method using the alt-clickanddrag to subtract from the selection and shift-clickanddrag to add to the selection.

...also check out Quick Mask Mode, Alpha Channels, and the Magic Wand, they give you More Power!
