Choppy Game Play

I am playing Giants on my PC. It is very choppy . I am running Win XP, I have an AMD 700 overclocked to 950, 512 ram and a G Force 2 MX video card it should not be choppy. My PC exceeds the miin requirments by almost double. Any one know why it would be choppy? Or how to fix it? Any help would be great.

Are you running other programs in the background while you're playing your game? Sometimes things like antivirus programs can slow down your game as well.

Could XP have some compatability issues with Giants?
Are there any updates available from the publisher?

Have you checked for updates for the game itself? I remember when Giants first came out it was buggy as hell and there was a huge patch that fixed a lot of issues...

pc.ign.com did a review of WinXP from a gaming standpoint, and one of the games they used to test it was Giants. Most of the other games were a bit slower than when played on Win98SE, but Giants ran A LOT slower on XP. Must be some kind of weird issue with Giants specifically that will most likely require another patch.
