pc will not play dvd's

pc will not play dvd's

I have windows xp and evertime I go to play a dvd I receive an error saying unable to read the channels.dat from the installed path what do I do to fix the problem?

dvd won't play movies

It does not matter what software I use. I have tried in powerdvd, ati dvd, windows media player, maximusdvd, and none have worked.

when ever I put a dvd in that message comes up and the computer freezes. I have to eject the disc to continue with anything.

Do you have Napster or did you delete Napster files? I found this:

The plugin will erase all incomplete files in Napster, notify.dat, shared.dat and channels.dat from Napster.

Funnily enough since I upgraded to XP, I have been unable to play DVD's also.

I think there is something on Ms's webpage about codec's.

I hardly use my pc to play them, but do for region 2, and i just got a new ali g dvd.

Any help for me.

I have the Cinemaster DVD player, came with my Dell.

Solved my problem, paid 14.95 to download the newest ravisent player, and ali g is go..... booyakasha...
