Sorry, couldn't help myself. Some motherboard manufacturers have begun supplying smartcard readers as a means of security for your system. You cannot access the computer without inserting the smartcard.

they're like credit card sized things w/ a chip inside used for various purposes. if you don't know, you probably don't need one. i assume this is related to the soyo board. i find the USB ports to be immensely useful but the smart card reader... well, it just takes up space. i didn't even connect it.
