just ordered a new computer, what do y'all think?

I just ordered from newegg.com, according to the advice I got in my other thread. I got:
Enforce motherboard (I don't remember which one, my roommate recommended it, it has an integrated video, sound and ethernet card
AMD thunderbird 1GHz processor
Pioneer DVD-rom drive
Maxtor 40GB HD
evercase case
256MD DDR memory
microsoft keyboard
various cables and stuff

at about $575...happy Hannukah to me. What do you think of this, good deal?

but... it is the enforce board..
which means nvidia integrated video

integrated video that is better then most peoples seperate cards

the reviews on the enforce boards gave the integrated sound and video extremely good reviews.. even compared to seperate sound and video cards

Thanks for the advice. Now I just have to wait for newegg. I wonder how long fedex saver shipping takes?

And OSes are sure expensive. $200 for windows XP...I could get a brand new processor for that, or a cd burner and other stuff...

I guess it'll be linux for awhile. Hopefully there's a good linux dvd player program (that can hopefully play all regions).

As far as I know (I could be wrong) there aren't many Linux DVD players avaiable. There are some Linux DVD players but they can't compete (yet) in term of video and sound quality to the Windows DVD players. But Intervideo (WinDVD) will probably release LinDVD in 2002 (I don't know when).

For $575, that's a pretty solid system.
