Excel Macros - Help, please!

Currently, I'm working on a project at work that takes information scanned from a book (already scanned, in PDF format), and converts it to Excel for eventual conversion to HTML.

This book involves lots of tables with numbers. Often, when I grab the table in Acrobat and paste it into Excel, the table comes out about twice as tall as it should be, with gaps everywhere.

Basically, I need a macro that condenses a highlighted group of cells, i.e., it checks each cell in the highlighted portion, and for each that has whitespace above it, it shifts it up one row.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
