IE Closing when downloading a file

Ok this is starting to happen more and more. When I click on a file to download, the IE window closes and the download window pops up. I am able to download the file, but then I have to reopen IE and go back to the site. How do I fix this? I am using IE 5.50

Does this happen with all sites you try to download from? I know that some sites will close the window after you download a file.

I can't really offer anything other than saying that there's probably some javascript on certain sites where it'll close the window when you download. If the closing of windows is sporadic on the same site then I'm stumped.

Easy solution:
When you have a link to a file you want to download, just press shift before you click on it. Doing that will open up a new ie window and as soon as the file starts to download, your new window will just go away. You still have your old window open too.
