Advice on a system

I am helping someone who i know a little buy a system. They know very little about computers so i am leaning towards a Dell. this is what i configured for them. If they order by tuesday 10/9 they also get free shipping and they are giving $50 dollars off if you get a P4 1.7 Ghz so it seemed to be the best choice.

They will not be doing a bunch of gaming. they just need something dependable. the only thought I had was spending $119 more for the 3 years tech support.

I would build them one but i do not want to be the tech support for casual friends only real good friends

let me know- Thanks a bunch!

probably more than they need since they aren't really into gaming, which means it won't become obselete for them as fast as it would for a gamer

The only thing I'd recommend is to go with 256 MB of RAM - the cost is minimal and it'll be a great help down the road (and with games).

i forget how much it was to add 128 MB more of ram 80-120 dollars. since i can get more crucial ram for 35 for 256
MB more bumping it to 384 of Ram i will do this for them.

Well that's about 200 bucks or so cheaper than I could configure it on dell with the same exact components. Their website must have been made with the same software that Amazon's website was.

I just got the same price when i just did it- $1008.

make sure you take out all those little upgrades- Like they add in an APC surge suppressor near the bottom (sneaky huh) then I went to the next cheaper harmon kardon speaker not the one that is supposed to come with it. it is the dell 4300 from the home part not the business part of the website maybe that matters??
also one year support not 3 years.

not sure what the difference is on yours. copy and paste your configuration so we can compare it if you want to
