Converting .mpga files?

The other day, I downloaded some Tenacious D songs and planned on burning them onto disc today. I went to convert the files to .wav and my convertor won't recognize them. It turns out the songs are .mpga files. How the heck do I convert these things to .wav (or at least mp3)?

Are there any freeware or shareware programs out there that'll do it? I checked CNET, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

(Oh, and if anyone cares, I found the Tenacious D songs at SideHatch.com.)
