New computer help

Can someone give me the pos and negs of a AMD Duron, I've read a review and it seemed favorable, but would like some personal opinions. Note this computer is being used just for Word processing, Internet(possibly high speed), other basic operations, it will not be used for any games or high performance applications.

Then the Duron should do just fine and it is inexpensive. Too bad you are not gonna do much with it I have heard of Duron 600's doing a gig.

I just got an AMD Duron with 900MHz processing -- its great. Good for games too, despite what some people say, even though its a laptop.

Great, that's good to here Toad. I'll probably look into it more, but I think that's what I will buy.

A Duron is a great way to go. Many people have good luck overclocking their Duron's with no trouble effectively making their inexpensive cpu perform like a processor a hundred bucks more expensive.

Actually, for not much more you can get the T-Bird cpu of same speed. That's something you can check out.

For more info you should check out the Anandtech.com site and boards which is a wealth of geek information. Or check out overclockers.com for some overclocking info.

The deal of the last while happens to be the ECS Sis 735 AMD mobo with a 1.4GHz cpu.
