HELP!! i need help with my internet access

Help, there was a lighting storm in the SF bay area a few days ago, and when it happened when i was online, my computer reset. My phone works fine but when i try to connect i can only connect at really slow speeds and when i connect a decent speed, nothing loads up. I reset my phone cords but nothing happened, what do i need to do????

I moved your thread in here so you'll get more appropriate response (and this is where technical computer questions belong).

Do you use a dialup modem or DSL or cable or what?

This may help you figure out if your modem/Ethernet card is screwed:

Start>Run>msinfo32>'Tools'>Network Diagnostics>Modems(or ethernet)

It may help you find if the modem got screwed up, but also check around some other 'tools' categories for system checks.

Oh yeah...WHAT OS ARE YOU RUNNING???

A power surge could have fried it. Two choices -- try it on someone else's phone line, or borrow another modem.
