Thanks benedict, I was just going to post that.

Sorry bfrank, for some reason I thought your problem was solved.

Have you already tried going to Internet Options in the control panel and setting your homepage to blank?

Get POW and add all those windows...

I run it constantly now and the windows hardly ever open anymore, I didn't like have to add them manually to start, but now i'm used to it and am not going back.

Hmm. Weird stuff.

If the .dll talked about above isn't the problem, perhaps you should try reinstalling IE?

bfrank

What you describe is odd. Try going into Internet Options (in the control panel) Goto the "programs" tab and click the reset web settings button and agree with the dialog boxes. (note this will reset your homepage too)

Then click the "advanced" tab and hit the restore defaults button.

see if that helps

WOW!

This has been f'ed!!!

I reinstalled IE but i still got the pop ups but this time slower and I could shut it down with task manager and still keep IE open. Then I exited IE and they came up again . Then I did what 4KRG recommended and I am back!!!!!!!

This was some bad stuff for sure.

I was getting around a hundred popups by the time I shut IE down with task manager.

Thanks to all!

not many people in the world know how to uninstall and reinstall IE for real

You thought you reinstalled it, but I would bet $1,000 you did not

bfrank, did you ever get to the bottom of this and/or fix it?

Was there something nasty runninng in the background but not appearing in the Task Manager list?

Curious minds need to know!
