Whats the diff. between ecc and non-ecc ram?
 

building a new computer and came upon somthing i didnt know..what is, if it does make any diff., the diff. between ecc and non-ecc ram? if anyone can help me out it would be great. also does anyone know where i can get pc hardware ( hdd, video cards, monitors, etc...) for dirt cheap? thanks alot for the help..

IIRC ECC is mainly used by servers and it checks to make sure the data is not corrupted (slows down a bit but it is more reliable, again IIRC).
