V.92 Modems

I'm building a new pc and I need to get a new modem. Unfortunately I live in the sticks and have no cable or dsl Anyways, I was looking at the new V.92 modems and they sound pretty cool. They have that stay online and answer phone calls and I was wondering how reliable that really is. Also, if you are online and the phone rings, if you have caller ID does the number come up? Any opinions appreciated. Thanks!

In the vast majority of real-world situations, V.92 is useless, because even if your phone lines are clean enough to support it, next to no ISPs have the equipment on their end to get it to work for the end-user. If you can save a few bucks and just get a V.90 of high quality, it's better, but if the V.92 is the same price (it'll revert to V.90 anyway if designed properly) you may as well get it. Just don't expect much.
