PC2100 DDR SDRAM vs PC2400 DDR SDRAM

How much faster is the PC2400? The difference between price is around $8 for a 256MB chip.

PC2100 DDR SDRAM runs at 133 MHz, PC2400 DDR SDRAM just means that those chips are rated to run at up to 150 MHz. If you're running your motherboard at its default speeds, then PC2400 won't buy you anything. However, if you overclock your motherboard, then the PC2400 will allow you to run your FSB as high as 150 MHz. Whether the other components in your system will be happy with that is another question.

I had my system running well with the bus overclocked to 150 MHz. Until the PC2100 chip roasted. Lucky it was Crucial and they cross-shipped me a new one. Next time I upgrade, I'll probably get the PC2400.

tbird2340,
although pc2400 sounds like it would be much faster than pc2100, doesn't mean that you will actually see the difference in real life applications. some of your other components in your system such as the hardrives are the biggest bottlenecks.

read the review at the link below for examples
