DVD ripping speeds How can i tell how fast my dvd-rom drive or others are?

I have a 10x pioneer DVD-rom drive, i want to know how fast it can rip dvds. And no i dont want to convert it to divx or mpg, i just like the idea to be able to rip a full dvd onto my hard drive if i have to return a dvd to a friend or blockbuster and i havent had time to watch it yet. I was looking for a second dvd-rom drive and was looking at the toshiba 16x, apparently it can only rip dvds at 2x. can anyone shed any light on this?

It depends on cpu/mobo/ram/dvd-rom/hd combo.I personally think it is an issue with the via mobo.On my old bx mobo/[email protected],i was able to rip at 5x,but on my new via mobo/p3-1ghz i can only get 1.5x with smartripper2.34/dvd encrypter 2.4.Everything is the same exept cpu/mobo.See my thread over at doom 9(forum/decrypting):http://www.doom9.net
