I picked AMD although i really have both because right now I would not spend money on an intel processor.

Have an AMD 1.2 Ghz 266 running at 1.33 Ghz in first computer.

have an Intel P3 800e that runs at 880 Mhz in my second computer.

P1 133, P1 166MMX, PII 233, PII 233-laptop and PIII-500, in the computers in the house. Next will almost certainly be a AMD to replace the PIII for my system.

all my systems are intel.. my main desktop at home is a celeron 566 clocked at 850 (768mb sdram)... my main laptop is a PIII 650 (256mb sdram).. and all my play systems are intel PII systems, most around 333mhz

when I buy a new system.. I might consider amd, but only for the price difference..

Got an AMD Tbird 1.2 266 running at 1.33gig. Did have it hit 1.45 for a while but brought it down to 1.33 to stay on the safe side.

I have an old intel Pentium 166 and AMD Athlon 750.

When I bought the Pentium 166 intel was by far the obvious choice IMO. I was a die hard intel fan and said I would only buy intel processor.

But last year when I finally upgraded I went for AMD and I recommended AMD to the people I know and they all bought AMD processors . I didn't see any reason to go for intel, they cost much more than AMD (and when I say much more, I really mean MUCH more, not simply more) and they are slower than AMD (I agree that there can be a debate here, but basically they are about the same speed and in all the "real life" tests I saw on TV (read apps, not benchmarks), AMD always won. Benchmarks can be manipulated so easily and I don't buy the "when apps will be optimized for the P4" crap. Fine, maybe someday they will but I am buying my computer NOW, and don't want to wait 6 months for it to outperform the other proccessors when this processor will anyway be far from the top processors in 6 months). I am also tired of the intel propaganda (stuff like "AMD Athlon" is not compatible with the software you will use... yeah sure it never happened so far anyway), I am tired of the stupid slogans they use (remember the "pentium 3, optimized for internet", yeah sure...) and I am tired of the stupid MMX guys (hey they stole the idea from Weird Al Yankovic, look at his music video "Dare to be stupid" and you will really see the MMX dancing guy, and this music video is much older than the pentium chip).

Sorry intel fans, I once was part of your "team" and maybe I will back some time (it seems it will take years, and maybe never) when intel will discover that they should not have crazy prices and sign contracts with Rambus...

I have two Intel Systems

Primary: 1Ghz P3 overclocked to 1.3Ghz

Second: Celeron 600 overclocked to 1.05Ghz

I build/service systems all day long, I see custom build crap machines, high powered custom builds and big company systems and I am always having to deal with some kinda compatiblity issues that the via/amd produces. I like AMD *CPU's* but the motherboard chipsets are sorely lacking. This has keep me a Intel user. Oh, I am not saying we don't have intel based system with problems. Just the volume favors the AMD side.

I like fast so if they both are fast I am all for it. I not a die hard intel fan. I want AMD to reach the success that intel has. Makes good business.

the p3-500 is doing just fine for me for now. I dont do
anything like gaming), just photoshop, and what not, so
the p3 will be fine for a while...

Only planning to going to a P4 (or p5 maybe by the time it
happens) when dvd burns become a realistic and affordable

Motorola PPC G4 867Mhz, with 256K L2 cache and 2MB L3 cache.

As Thunderball said, "Never been happier"

For a PC, the AMD line is VERY attractive. if I needed a windows box, I'd be on those Thunderbird chips in a second.

I have an Athlon 700 mhz. system that I bought over a year ago. I have been completely happy with it so far. When I was shopping for this system I had heard mixed reviews on AMD products of the past but that the newer Athlons were improved as far as their reliability so I decided to go with them. I had previously only bought Intel products. But after a year it's still been a good decision for me. The way things are now I don't really see any good reason to go with Intel unless you are completely loyal to them.

My primary machine is an Athlon 900MHz. My secondary machine (upstairs - for scanning, etc) is an AMD 650MHz. My terciary machine (for my 2 1/2 year old son) is a PIII-450MHz. All three are networked together, and share their cable internet access through a D-Link DI-703 router.
