Need helps for setting up my new computer

I just bought a new computer (1.3GHz Athlon). I tried to install win 98 from the cd drive (drive D), but I kept getting the message "Driver is not ready". At this state, the computer can reconize the drive D, but when I typed D:\>dir, I got the same message.
Then, I installed cd driver, reset the computer. The monitor showed the following message:
C:\>
C:\>REM ***CDROM DEVICE DRIVER****
C:\>C:\CDROM\MSCDEX.EXE/D:MSCD001/V
MSCDEX VERSION 2.23
Copyright (C) Microsoft corp 1986-1993 All right reserved
Drive D: = Driver MSCD00/unit 0
494752 bytes free memory
0 byte expanded memory
12948 byte CODE
2112 bytes Static DATA
12618 bytes dynamic DATA
27936 bytes used
C:\>
C:\>
C:\> MSCDEX/D:IDECD000
bad command or file name
C:\>
Any helps would be appreciated, thanks.

Can you get into your BIOS?

On POST, your system should state a key that you can press to get into the BIOS.

Upon entry, check for something similar to "Boot Sequence" and change it to CDROM.

Insert the disc and Windows 98 should start Setup.

milf, thanks.
The problem's solved. It's CD drive problem. It can read all other CD's but Win 98 CD. I have to get another Win 98 CD from friends tomorrow.

If you have any other problems with getting Win 98 installed, you might try having a friend make a Win 98 Boot Disk for you, which you can then use to boot your computer and it will give you the option to load with CD-ROM support.
