I have things up and running and am checking the little things that can increase performance. I noticed my hard drive(maxtor 30 GB 7200 RPM) does not even have an option to enable DMA.

I wonder if this is due to my partitioning it and running win 98se and win 2k on it. The little box that usually allows you to check it to enable DMA is just not there

I am running the hard drive off my promise raid controller that has udma 100 support.

could this be the reason?

If anyone has run into this let me know. I will look around myself also.

running A7V133 Motherboard
AMD 1.2 Ghz athlon overclocked to 1350(10x135fsb)

thanks

Ok it looks like the promise controller does not show an option for DMA but it enables it automatically.

guess I answered my own question
