Moviespree app discontinued as of 10/1
Just got an email from them about this- on Friday the only way to access your movies will be through their website. Fortunately it works with Airplay so I can still watch them in the same quality, don’t know if it also works with Chromecast. They will no longer be selling movies on their site either. Seems going forward they will be concentrating on add-supported content on YouTube.
Wonder how big a hit they took from that time last summer when all their codes were redeeming infinitely- I got 100 or so of them. I did pay about $5 for a set of 80s sex comedies I still need to watch. Digital is the future! |
Re: Moviespree app discontinued as of 10/1
Which stinks as I have some content there that is nowhere else. Some from the bundle packs and some from digital codes.
I had been using the Roku app. For those that didn't get the email. Spoiler:

How funny would that be if they announce all of their titles would be converted to MA.

So glad that I never got around to buying Kids in the Hall.

I will now be reviewing the content I own on this service and then figuring out what is or isn't worth still maintaining access. Then taking the time and evaluating the $$ to ensure we have the same content via another provider (VUDU, Amazon, or Apple).

I could never figure out how it worked for Mill Creek titles so I never bothered with trying to use it.

It was run by Mill Creek.

I just checked their site now that the apps are dead, and it has vanished from my library... |

I never expected to have to check the titles we own. Time to compare of my inventory sheet to the website.

Re: Moviespree app discontinued as of 10/1
Kind of figured this would happen, which is why I never bothered with their service in the first place. I always felt like Mill Creek was in it mostly to advertise "digital copy" on their physical media competing with studio releases since so many of their retail sales are impulse buys.
