Apple TV or Amazon Fire 4K Stick?
I need to upgrade my first gen Fire TV to use Criterion streaming. Right now I’m stuck between a Fire TV 4K Stick and the latest Apple TV model. The pros I see for the Fire Stick are the low cost and small profile while the Apple TV gives me a built in Ethernet option (I know I can buy an adapter for the Fire Stick) and the option for AirPlay since I have a lot of Mac devices around the house. On the cons the Apple TV is almost four times as much as the Fire Stick. Is Apple TV missing any major apps/platforms? |

Is the Apple TV still missing Vudu?
Any reason why you don't want a Roku? I think they're the best streaming devices. |

I think Apple TV now has both vudu and Prime Video. Fire TV is still missing (last time I checked) youtube but you can still use the web interface.
I have no experience with the "new" apple tv, but I would go with whatever hardware you prefer, there's not much difference in content that I can see. Even the Apple TV + subscription stuff is coming to Fire TV and the rest, and I think that includes itunes shows as well (for what doesn't sync with moviesanywhere). |
