Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I keep seeing ads for Mr. Mercedes. They only have two seasons available. Where is the third? Still with Audience?

Still no fire TV support, right? Urgh. Might go for the hulu discount instead.

Peacock is still not “officially” on Fire TV, but a few of us have it “side loaded”, so it is possible to get it.

Half the time(like this morning) the sideload doesn't work.

That’s no good! I had not watched anything on Peacock for a while, but after seeing your post I just tried it and it’s working fine for me. I do seem to remember that after I updated the app recently (see post #221) I had to restart my FireStick to get the app to work. If you haven’t tried that recently, then go to settings/myfiretv/restart

Good luck!

Uhhh, it already was on there. My FIL watched it months ago and I just watched it the past few weeks with my wife.

I guess maybe if you have the freebie service it wasn't on there.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I’ve got a new Samsung smart tv that allows me to mirror my iPhone or iPad to it, but when I tried mirroring Peacock to it while playing the first episode of SbtB it wouldn’t work. I’m not sure what’s up with that, so I guess I’ll have to sideload after all.
Oh, and I thought this app was free with commercials, but apparently that’s not actually the case? I couldn’t progress to episode 2 without subscribing.

There are 3 levels
- Free with ads, does not include all content. If it’s an original, they will offer the first episode or such available to try it out
- Premium with ads, includes all content
- Premium Plus, no ads

Gotcha. I was under the false impression that there was a free with ads tier that included all content.
No biggie. I just hate that mirroring doesn’t work, so I’m forced to deal with sideloading.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

More than 26 million people have signed up for NBCUniversal’s ad-supported streaming service, Peacock, NBCU CEO Jeff Shell said during the UBS Global TMT Virtual Investor Conference Tuesday.

That’s up 4 million sign-ups from the 22 million that Brian L. Roberts, CEO of NBCUniversal parent company Comcast, said the the new streaming service was nearing on Oct. 29.
To give readers an idea of Peacock’s continued growth, in mid-September, Roberts revealed the platform had just topped 15 million sign-ups. Prior to that update, as of the end of July, Peacock had 10 million sign-ups.

Comcast has projected Peacock will have up to 35 million subscribers by the end of 2024.

Do they say how many of those are some kind of paid tier?

Wow, now I’m really glad I bought the series. Odd desperate attempt to bring the fans over to this service.

How is it odd or desperate?

And what is your point? I get it man you don't have the money or time for this service. But, calling this a desperate attempt to bring customers is kind of a silly statement. They own the rights to the show and this deal was signed long ago.

NBC has almost a 1/2 century of movies and shows. This is not something like DC Universe, which barely had anything. They will continue to acquire more shows/movies from their library.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

They just released the blu set. Now there's a ton of extras they're going to release on their platform. Every extra was made years ago and could have easily been put on the set, but nope. I've seen a lot of people on Twitter bitch about the move that it's left Netflix, but I doubt throwing in extras like this will entice a huge subscription bump Basically squeezing the last drops of blood out of this series.

Feel free to prove me wrong in a few months that their subscription base will increase by them doing this

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Weirdly, Peacock removed practically all their classic movies (Universal monsters, Hitchcock movies, etc). And there were maybe 50+ of them. I wonder why. (I hope they'll rotate other classics in).
