Re: The Criterion Channel -- streaming service
I watched Au hasard Balthazar, last night. I'll just say it wasn't terribly uplifting.
JustWatch is a nice way to look at the available content, as well, but it has the same problem I find with TCCLibrary... When you click on the title you want, it takes you straight to the playing of the title. I would prefer it take you to the information page for the title. It's not as bad with JustWatch, since they have an informative description of the title on their own page.

Richard Lester's PETULIA and ROBIN AND MARIAN are showing up when searched for... but without available videos. Are they "coming soon," missing-in-action or region locked..?

Caught yet another movie that should have 5.1 sound but is instead in MONO- The Virgin Suicides. They should hire me to do quality control.

Watched Mon Oncle, tonight. I watched about 20 minutes of it, a couple of nights ago, but didn't really enjoy it. When I watched the rest of it, I loved it.
Had to be in the right mood for it, I guess.

Got the latest gen Fire Stick and all is well. Finally. Been going through the Columbia Noir titles. Great fun. Maybe not classics of the genre but well worth your time.

I watched Two or Three Things I Know About Her and really found it a chore to get through.
The whispering narration was tedious, and not much about the story really held my interest.
I'm fine with stories that are slow paced, and just about everyday routine, but this one didn't do it for me.
Is this typical Godard?

Detour is great, haven't seen it in years. Need to revisit.
Another great noir is Murder by Contract - worth checking out.

I'll check out Murder by Contract.
I watched The Burglar, last night. Not bad, but not great. No real surprises in it.
Jayne Mansfield was quite beautiful!

The other thing about Detour is that the Criterion restoration is light years better than prior prints -- and versions of the same movie on other streaming services. For example, I compared against the version of Detour on Amazon streaming and there is no comparison. The Amazon version is nearly unwatchable it's so bad. They really did a great job with the restoration.

Finished up Jubal,1956 ‧ Drama/Romance ‧ 1h 41m
I don't think I've ever binged so many Glenn Ford movies before , lol, anyway, pretty interesting Soap Western, nicely filmed with some very solid performances, not really a classic western for sure, but I enjoyed Ford, Borgnine and Steiger's performances in this, and a young Charles Bronson! 3/5
