HBO's pricing is insane compared to what's out there now. Their shows are high quality but you can subscribe every few months and binge all of them. In fact, before it was "free" with my AT&T account I'd do exactly that, just subscribe when GoT started and unsubscribe when it ended.

I bought like 2 years of HBO Now last Christmas when Best Buy was selling discounted gift cards. I hope I can upgrade my subscription for cheap or free like we did with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

I believe this is the case - they're not offering "Live" HBO streaming...they're just offering some (not all) HBO programming and HBO shows will, like other streaming services' content, rotating in and out monthly. So asking $15 a month or more is going to price people out. Again, anything much more than Disney + and Apple TV will kill HBOMax before it gets off the ground.

my price point is probably $8, I don't think I would do a double digit monthly at this point
amazon, Netflix, spotify, criterion, disney+ are already draining nearly $60 a month on top of my cable bill....

I could have sworn there were reports that you would get HBO and Cinemax streaming included in the HBOMax service. If that isn't the case, I am completely uninterested.

The best that I can find on the internet is that they haven't completely announced what will be in it. One assumes that will happen when they officially confirm the price point. However, it's hard to reconcile calling something HBO Max and then not have it offer all HBO and Cinemax programming.

Yeah, if it's called HBO max and it doesn't have all of HBO (or worse it rotates in and out) that seems like a blunder.
This is from the Vudu deals thread but all 10 seasons of Friends are available on Vudu for 4.99 a piece or 44.99 for all (if Friends was a deciding factor for some of you in regards to getting this service)
That's like 3 months of HBO non Max. Or consider they're spending 85 million per year for the next five years just to stream this show.

There were rumors this was going to be $15/month. But that's not official. This doesn't launch until next Spring around April I believe. So we're not going to get final details on what exactly is included until maybe December or January at the earliest.
Hell, I read something that said AT&T wanted to include live TV in some form for HBO Max like sports.

Unless we're talking Big 3 or XFL or something.

Does AT&T have any streaming deals in place with sports providers now, though? I doubt they could extend Sunday Ticket to HBO Max subscribers even as an add on as the NFL would surely balk (and I'm sure they would've already extended it to Uverse customers if they could have).

So we really don't know anything at this point. Everything is pure guessing.
I'm sure when they officially announce a price point/packages, someone is going to complain.

They wanted to include AT & T TV Now(formally known as Direct TV Now) as possibly an add-on.
That makes sense and could possibly save A T & T Now from folding.

If they could get the NBA on TNT, that would actually be huge. It would actually push me over the edge to finally cut the cord, but I'll keep my hopes dampened until they say something.

Cinemax would be a nice carrot for me. Granted it’s a limited number of series a couple of which I already own in their entirety, but I liked the first episodes of both Jett and Warrior.

I knew I wasn't crazy. The Verge reported it would be a bundle HBO, Cinemax and other properties: https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/6/18...tv-hbo-cinemax
Now obviously they could be wrong, but I hope not.

I'm sure that will be an add-on option; I just don't think it's part of the base service. That article is from June - you know after the Disney and Apple announcements, Warners is probably re-thinking their app.

Warner/HBO really needs to start streaming their content in 4k if they want to compete, especially if they're going to charge premium prices for their service.

Studio Ghibli films will be available for US streaming on HBO Max for the first time ever!
Coming soon in Spring 2020.
The entire animated offerings of Studio Ghibli, Japan's Oscar-winning animation house, will be available for streaming in the U.S. exclusively on HBO Max next year, the premium cable network said Thursday.
In a deal with North American distributor GKIDS, the full catalog of 21 films, including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, will be licensed for the first time in its entirety for a U.S. streaming platform. All films will be available from the launch of HBO Max in spring 2020, with the exception of The Wind Rises, which will launch in fall 2020.

A day after they said they wouldn't license their films to any streaming service.

That Ghibli score is big. Those movies haven’t been on any purchase digital services, let alone “free” streaming.

It’s great for people that don’t have the complete collection or never seen any or all of their movies but for someone like me that own the whole collection, this is not a big deal.
It might help make the movies more mainstream so that’s good news however in what language will they be streaming at?
