Okay, thanks. I was thinking of the 6-month prepay offer.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

I got home and the HBO app was still HBO even though the roku site said HBOMax was installed. I did the update and it switched over to Max internally but still said HBO. It later upgraded the logo.

I did have some glitches that tossed me back to the roku menu a couple times as i checked through the selections. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

If signing up for a new subscription, does it matter whether I subscribe through Roku or directly through the HBO Max site? Can you get the '20% off for 6 months' discount if you subscribe through Roku?

I tell you, having an app on Roku makes all the difference for my household. Told my kids about it, and now they’re watching all sorts of shows on it. Doesn’t hurt all things Sesame Street is a part of it.

Yeah, the TCM section has quite a few Janus Films/Criterion Collection movies which is really cool.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

How is the Roku app?
At least on the Fire/android app, the way they implement the passcode protect to prevent children from switching is really dumb.

If the app is restarted, you can choose any profile right off the bat.
If you are in a kid's profile with this setting on, you must put in the passcode to change to another profile. Ok.
But putting in the passcode is in plaintext on the screen for everyone to see.

I just turned it off because it's more annoying than anything else.

^^^ Same exact experience for me on the Roku app. I just turned off the PIN access.

You just asked that. No one knows right now. It's not just dumping it over. New licensing deals for the content likely have to be arranged for it to go to HBO Max.

Re: HBO Max Warnermedia streaming service launches May 2020

I just watched the Carrie Underwood Christmas special on HBO Max today called "My Gift" It's fantastic. If you just want to relax and listen to some old Christmas classics and hear a few of her songs, it's a great 1 hour show. She sounds fantastic and looks stunning. I'm not a huge country fan, but I am a fan of hers. You don't see many of these kind of specials nowadays.

Roku app is glitchy as fuck. Some times it takes me 3 or 4 times to get into the app after clicking my profile. More often than not it boots me to the main Roku menu.

I think last year Kacey Musgraves did an Xmas special on Amazon (still available), though it was more of a variety show kind of thing.

If you click down or over on the remote to start scrolling before everything completely loads it usually prevents it from kicking you back to the home screen. Regardless, hopefully it's fixed soon.

I still can't believe in this day and age there's no easy way to gift this (or Disney Plus) without creating an account for said person. I realize they want you to have a card on file so maybe gift subs are frowned upon or something, but man.

HBO had gift cards in past. They were physical ones though.

There is for the initial year of Disney+... it's the renewals you can't directly gift. I just ended up sending my sister the money for the renewal.

I was just watching the series on DVD this morning and was having trouble watching because they were the dreaded flipper discs.
