re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

Anyone having problems with HBO Max on Roku tonight? I keep getting an error message: Close HBO Max An unknown problem has occurred. Please Contact your tv provider. I don know if they’re just overloaded tonight from everyone watching Mare of Easttown and the Friends Reunion or what….

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I'm glad it wasn’t just me. I luckily have HBO Max via Hulu and was able to finish Mare of Easttown on Hulu. If it was a HBO Max original, I wouldn’t have been able to watch it on Hulu. I hope Hulu can get the full HBO Max roster one day instead of just the HBO content.

Titanic is on HBO Max? Oh I see what they did.

I didn't watch any content but I opened it and looked but nothing seemed odd. I use a Fire Stick.

That Damn Michael Che is one of the funnier things I've seen in a while. Hopefully it gets renewed but I've heard pretty much no reaction to it.

The Sesame Street portion of the roku app is all fucked up. It's skipping in a weird way where you can't select seasons. Sigh...sent them an email.

I noticed yesterday that Conjuring 3 is supposed to be in Dolby Vision but it never switched over to the DV, it stayed in HDR10 mode along with ATmos. I also noticed that the ZS JL Justice is Gray version is in full 4K DV / Atomos, while the regular ZS JL is in 4K DV and standard 5.1.

I'm still have trouble with the Roku app. I was trying to watch episode 4 of Hacks and it wouldn't play. It would just refresh the page for that episode. I have to uninstall and reinstall the app to be able to watch it.

That's why it was glitchy yesterday, before the fix. I was watching something in HD and the setting kept switching to HDR over it. It's back to normal now.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

Apparently they released a bad update that really messed up the Apple TV HBO Max app. Rewinding was also an issue apparently.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service

A bit disappointed that those of us who took advantage of the six month promo back in Dec/Jan aren't being offered anything to reup.

There is the annual 16% pre-pay promo discount (no ads) currently making the rounds and I guess I'll jump on that offer ($150).

Still, thought there'd be a slightly better offer for those now hooked as a retention method.

It's a great service and has tons of value for it's price. I think it's absolutely worth $15/month. They always have new stuff coming in.

But, I know most of us don't have unlimited time and money for entertainment, so we have to be choosy and penny pinch at times.

Content wise I would keep this if I could only keep one.

Considering I've been paying $15/mo for HBO for years and years... getting this with extra content for the same price is a bargain.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service

I still have it free due to my AT&T Fiber subscription. It is probably my most used service right now, it has a lot of content to parse through and it's generally pretty high quality.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I only learned of the dumb update that broke the HBO Max interface w/Apple TV this morning, but it explains why last night I could not rewind/fast forward, and the next episode box would get stuck as I was watching Hacks. I was really annoyed but I just tried HBO Max a few minutes earlier and it does appear the issues are resolved. I was able to rewind/FF the episode of Hacks that I was watching so that is cool. Speaking of Hacks, I started binging yesterday and had to remind myself of the time before stopping for the night. The show draws you in to the point where you want to know what comes next. It helps that no one in the cast is hideously unlikeable. The two "Hacks" that make up the main characters on the show also have good chemistry with each other.

It can't be worse than the movie, right?
