Oldboy, why would you start any recent show that only has about 20-25 eps and only 2-3 seasons.

They seemed to have updated the Roku app. Changed a lot of things.

I know some people had problems, but I hadn't in a long while. The whole thing is kind of sluggish now.

Yeah maybe it's mostly cosmetic changes? It's formatted differently. Not sure if any fixes went into it.

I didn't think it would need it's own thread but a new documentary dropped. What Happened, Brittany Murphy?

2 one-hour episodes. I never dug deep into her life and death, so I learned a few things. Some parts still pretty sad to watch.

Do we know why MAX doesn't have any of its original shows in 4k? Why only movies?

$$$ from Physical 4K Blu Rays is my best guess. They must be making good money to hold out on streaming.

He's talking about the TV shows, not the movies. There's no TV shows broadcast on the service in 4K, however select movies are including the new 2021 releases.

Discovery + and HBO Max may combine into one streaming service: https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/disc...-after-merger/

I mean, I assumed that would happen when they first announced the merger. Disney+ has the NatGeo content, and HBO Max is lacking the nature documentary genre in terms of content. Not to mention WarnerMedia's been pretty ruthless in shuttering every other video service it owns and moving that content to HBO Max.

Discovery. Not Disney.

I think you're confused. I was using Disney+ w/ Nat Geo content as a comparison, as Warner will want HBO Max w/ Discovery content to be competitive. I assumed the whole reason to buy Discovery was to shutter Discovery+ and roll everything into HBO Max.

I agree with your reasoning and conclusions, except for this part. It was Discovery that bought WarnerMedia, not the other way around.

I don't believe one company "bought" the other. It was a merger.

The boards of both AT&T and Discovery have approved the deal, but it will still have to be signed off by regulators. The deal is an all-stock transaction, which will see AT&T receive $43 billion in a combination of cash, debt securities, and debt retention on the part of WarnerMedia. AT&T shareholders will receive stock worth 71 percent of the new company, while Discovery’s shareholders will own the remaining 29 percent. https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/17/2...erger-spin-off

Ugh, my bad. It's sad to see AT&T still controlling so much of the company after they destroyed so much of it over the last 5 years. Hopefully, they stay hands-off with the day-to-day and Discovery is a better steward. And the new company name, Warner Bros Discovery? Stupid.

I just noticed last night on HBO Max the new 4K director's cut of The Outsiders: The complete novel is now on HBO Max. There's 22 minutes of new footage and an intro from Francis Ford Coppola.

It was just recently released on digital.

I don’t think this director cut is new.
The Complete Novel edition has been on home video for awhile now as far as I can recollect.

Whats interesting is HBO putting this up as 4K and Dolby Vision.
I think this might be the first non HBo premiere to get that treatment!

Welp looking at it now on Atv4K this is not triggering the DV but it is tagged as 4K.

It's a new 4K restoration and just came out this year. Here are the details.

Right I know about the 4K restoration.
I misread what you meant.

I thought you were saying the Dir cut is also new.

Just checked and DV is triggered on my tv. Maybe it was a temporary glitch?

Good call. Added to the queue. It's in DV, as well. The 4K disc only has HDR.
